Event Description:

After all the participants assembled in Chetana Auditorium, the event commenced by lightening of lamp and a prayer song, followed by introductory speeches by the dignitaries. It enhanced the significance of the event by the esteemed presence of Mr. Ramakrishna Kappagantu, IEEE R10 (Asia - Pacific) Director. He is the additional GM of Power Grid Corporation of India Limited, Southern Regional Transmission System- II.

The event was divided into three sessions in which two are on technical topics and the other is regarding transition of a student to Young Professional.

Session 1:

Topic: Scalable platforms for Hyper Scale Applications

Speaker profile: Mr. Radhakrishna Singuru is currently working as Principal Architect and Practice Head, Product Engineering Services, Wipro Technologies. He has joined Wipro more than 21 years ago and did his M.Tech in CSE from IIT Kanpur. He has a huge experience in working in varied areas ranging from Hyper Scale Application Engineering, Analytic Platforms, Cloud and Virtualization Technologies and many more.

Overview on the session:

• The speaker apprised the audience of Hyper Scale Applications and its key characteristics.

• He had let the participants know the key concepts of Scalable Platforms.

• He also illustrated the sample use cases and best practices in building Hyper Scale Apps.

Session 2:

Topic: Student to Young Professional Transition

Speaker Profile: Vamshi Krishna J has completed his B.Tech in Electronics and Communication Engineering from Vignana Bharathi Institute of Technology and is currently working as Head of Academic Relations at stuMagz.com. He has been an active IEEE Volunteer since 2012 and has organized/volunteered more than a 100+ events under IEEE holding various volunteer positions. He is a passionate fiction reader/writer and an avid traveler.

Overview on the session:

• The speaker addressed the audience on the life after B.Tech and also, the different options one can opt after B.Tech.

• He made the crowd aware of the real meaning of engineering and also spoke about his engineering career.

• The participants were acquainted with the importance and benefits of IEEE as a student as well as a Young Professional.

Session 3:

Topic: Cellular Network Architecture

Speaker Profile: Dr. Abhinav Kumar received the B.Tech degree in Electrical Engineering and M.Tech degree in Information and Communication Technology, and the PhD degree in Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi. From December 2013 to November 2014, he was a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Waterloo, Canada. Since November 2014, he has been with Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad, India, as an assistant professor. He is also a member of IEEE.

Overview on the session:

• The speaker discussed about various resource allocation schemes that have been used in practice in existing cellular networks.

• Various challenges in resource allocation in the presence of heterogeneous networks were examined.

• Finally, he illuminated the minds of participants with various key technologies for 5G like M2M communications, mmWave communications.

Review:

All the three sessions were found magnificently interesting and helpful to the participants. Students could get to learn the subject out of text books which would be beneficial in their future endeavors. It helped in increasing the level of thinking of the participants aspiring to do projects in the respective fields.
