Topic:

The importance of Computer Perfor-mance Analysis and Capacity Planning for large computing environments.

Have you ever been waiting in line to complete a transaction and the person helping you complains that the system is slow?  This happens all the time in banks, over the phone transactions or even trying to get your balance from your credit card? Computer performance analysis is a continuous activity and a basis for capacity planning of future and current computer needs. In this talk I would like to focus in Benchmark development as a key tool in the process of benchmark for system selection. We will review characteristics required for successful benchmarks in terms of scaling, control-ability, repeat-ability, allow comparison across vendors. Use as input for capacity planning and price/performance metrics.

Biography:

Mr. Salgueiro is an Experienced Computer Performance Architect with years of expertise is in private industry as well as Academia.  Currently working as an independent consultant in the area of Performance and Capacity Consulting Services at Salgueiro Consulting. He has over 25 years of experience working as a Consulting Engineer for the ESC Solutions Performance Group for Unisys Corporation As a Technical Team Lead Emilio has worked with peers in the System Performance Analysis and Capacity Planning. Managed the department of System Analysis Modeling and Measurement Development Engineering team, and on many occasions, acting Director of Performance Engineering. The group focused in performance characterization, discrete and analog modeling for CMOS and Intel based Libra, ClearPath Forward MCP systems.

Overview of Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS & Drones)

Over the last several years, UAV’s and Drones have been growing in popularity, and some would say notoriety. Over that time, it’s also been growing into a burgeoning platform and industry, with many ways to enhance and benefit our current workflows. Its only recently become easy and legal for those interested in utilizing them for commercial use in the US though. This session will provide an overview of Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS & drones) and how they can be used for projects, with design, inspection and safety examples.

Biography:

Peter is a Senior Technology Evangelist at Microdesk, specializing in assisting organizations with implementing BIM processes and understanding and implementing new and upcoming technologies to enhance coordination, and differentiate skills and offerings from competitors. This has included working with international firms in AECO providing on-site assistance, integrating BIM into their design processes, custom training and content, and leading the process of creating standards and workflows, as well as utilizing VR, cloud/ mobile tools, and UAV’s to stay at the forefront of the industry. Prior to joining Microdesk, Peter worked at design firms working on residential, institutional, liturgical and commercial projects. He has managed projects throughout all phases including CD’s, field surveys, code and product research, specs, and presenting to approval boards.
