THE PRESENTATION:

Con Edison has awarded a contract to ESP to design, build and deliver a Mobile Energy Control Center that is shielded against a high intensity Electromagnetic Pulse. The presentation will include an introduction to the physics of a nuclear EMP pulse and its potential effects on electrical and electronic equipment. It will cover the basics of designing an EMP shielded system and go into some detail about the specific design considerations and decisions that apply to the Con Edison Mobile Control Center, how communications are handled, how the system will be tested, the concept of operations and logistics issues.
