David Crockett Middle School Career Day
David Crockett Middle School is pleased to announce that we will host our 11th Annual 8th Grade Career Day on Friday, February 9th, 2018. Our theme is “Building Future Leaders.” The Career Day Committee is looking for individuals who are willing to volunteer their time on our campus to speak about his/her career. Experience shows us that exposure to a wide variety of careers, prior to high school, is a tremendous asset to students when selecting high school courses or planning for their future.
Career day speakers will speak for approximately 25 minutes and have 6 different sessions. In your presentation, we ask that you talk about your career, the level of education required, including any special training or ongoing education requirements, as well as what makes you successful in your field.

to consider including in your 12-15 minute talk:
Introduction (name, company, job function)
Level(s) of education required for your career path
Discuss any special training or continuous education required for your job
Inform students of which high school courses, activities, and/or volunteer efforts they
should pursue in order to help prepare them for a career in your profession (i.e.,
medical technician-science, computers; fashion design-art, computers; managercommunication,
writing; engineering-rigorous math courses, etc.)
Describe the stereotype, if any, of your profession that should be dispelled, (i.e.,
“engineers are geeks”)
List the often overlooked jobs/careers related to your profession (i.e. entertainmentbusiness
