Subject: This will be an informative talk covering C-141/C-5 Aircrew response to aircraft systems failures, generator failure(s), engine failure(s), and other miscellaneous systems. Identification of critical action timeframes and recovery actions from personal experiences will also be included along with a Q&A session.

 

 

Speaker’s Bio:

Phil Pierce is a University of New Hampshire 1976 graduate with a B.S. in Business and commissioned as a 2Lt in the USAF. He spent his first 4 years as a Contracting Officer at McChord and Andrews AFBs before attending UPT at Reese AFB, graduating in 1981 with an assignment to McGuire AFB flying the C-141 “Starlifter”. He amassed over 9300 hours in the C-141 then cross trained into the C-5 “Galaxy” logging just shy of 2000 hours, retiring from the AF in 2014 with 38 years of Federal service as a GS-14/LTC.

 

Jeremy Turner enlisted in the USAF immediately after graduating high school in 1991. After training in Sheppard AFB TX, his first duty assignment was McChord AFB as a C-141B 'Starlifter" Crew Chief.  In 1994 he cross trained to Flight Engineer, graduating C-141 flight training in 1995 and returning to McChord AFB. He transferred to Wright Patterson AFB in 2000 amassing 3500 hours on C-141B and C aircraft.  In 2005 he transitioned to C-5A, and B "Galaxy", moving to Dover AFB in 2011 to fly the C-5 AMP, and M models flying 2000+ additional hours. MSgt Turner has over 26 years of service, currently occupying a Special Missions Aviator Flight Engineer position in Combat Rescue on the HH-60G at Davis Monthan AFB, AZ.
