Cyber Security and the Grid: Untangling the Fear, Uncertainty and Doubt.

With ransomware, distributed denial of service, phishing and many other attacks directed at our electric critical infrastructure, how is it that our electric grid is reliable and resilient?  This presentation will discuss how the industry has progressed over the years to combat the adversaries and outline the challenges we face today and in the future.

Biography:

Michael Allgeier is the Critical Infrastructure Security Director for The Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT).  Michael has spent over 25 years in cyber and physical security, with over 10 years specifically in the electric/utility sector and another 10 years as a US Army Special Agent primarily focusing on cyber espionage investigations and operations.  Michael holds a BA in Homeland Security from American Military University and is a graduate of the Joint Counterintelligence Training Academy.  He also has numerous technology and security certifications, military awards, and decorations including for Valor and the Purple Heart.
