IEEE Houston Consultants Network will have a general meeting from 5:30 to 7:30 on Thursday September 20th at the Clayton Library Center at 5300 Caroline St., Houston, TX  77004.  After an inital networking session with snacks provided, Rick Strong will provide a presentation on "Texas Board of Professional Engineers - Professional Practice Update/Ethics Update"

TBPE Professional Practice Update/Ethics Update

Updates on Board rule changes within the last year, general updates on initiatives the Board is working on, information on enforcement statistics, and the engineering Code of Conduct. 

Biography:

Rick D. Strong, P.E. joined the Texas Board of Professional Engineers in April 2017 as the Director of Licensing.  As the Director of the Licensing Division, he oversees the review of all PE applications, Firm registrations, EIT certifications and renewals in the State of Texas.  The Licensing division reviews more than 3,000 PE applications per year and handles the renewals for close to 64,000 licensed Texas PEs and approximately 10,400 registered engineering Firms.

He has 31 years of experience in the Texas coal mining industry; he is knowledgeable in all aspects of mining engineering and mine operations.  Rick has been a licensed professional engineer in Texas since 1992. 

He is a 1985 graduate from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering. 

He resides in the Austin area with his wife Cindy. They enjoy their large family of six grown children and seven grandchildren
