In this seminar, Glen Garner from IBM shows how Engineering Staff that are acquainted with reliability centred maintenance (RCM) practices, are now using data science and Artificial Intelligence to creating new ways to predict pole deterioration and failure in an energy distribution network. It is a story of discovery and transformation of two Australian engineering teams in two different distribution companies
Biography:
Glen is a Senior Managing Consultant - resident in Brisbane, Australia. He is engaged with many power distribution companies and water utilities globally, optimising Work & Asset Management, and designing Smart Energy and Water Grids.
Glen has a 40-year career in Technology based industries and Asset Intensive industries; in the late 1980’s and 1990’s managing two technology start-ups in Telecommunications and Data Systems and then two Consultancy businesses in Reliability Management and Abnormal Situation Management.
Glen has a Master in Business & Technology (UNSW, Australia) and an engineering background in Communications, Control Systems (Operational Technology) and Information Technology. He is particularly interested in work optimisation, sustainable environments, renewables integration and alternative energies
