Please join us for the Central Iowa Section Annual Meeting and Dinner! This year we are meeting at the Iowa State Alumni Center.


Arrive early for the social time and networking with your peers and other guests. Fruit & Berry Appetizer Trays and Shrimp Cocktail Trays will be available. Feel free to tour the Alumni Center during this time.


The dinner will be catered by HyVee and will be a buffet featuring four entrees - Garlic Herb Chicken Breast, Salisbury Steak, Tilapia, and a non-meat option.  Also included will be Twice Backed Potatoes, Asparagus, Oven Roasted Vegetables, and Broccoli Supreme Salad. Desert will be Apple and Cherry Crisp.  A Vegan or Vegetarian Meal may be requested when you register.  Coffee, Tea, Lemonade, and Soft Drinks will be available.  The cost for the meal is $30 per person for Members and their guests or $10 per person for Student Members and their guests.


After Dinner, we will have a presentation by the IEEE Student Branch then a talk by ISU Business Dean David Spalding on Economic Development and Industry Relations Opportunities at ISU.

David P. Spalding is the fifth dean of the Ivy College of Business at Iowa State University. Before arriving in Ames in August 2013, he served for eight years at Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire. Most recently, Spalding served as senior vice president and senior advisor to Dartmouth’s president, responsible for implementing strategy, vision, and direction for the institution. Previously he had served as the president’s chief of staff.

Spalding was appointed as Dartmouth’s vice president for alumni relations in October 2005, his first position in higher education. In this role, he led the school's efforts to increase engagement with its nearly 70,000 alumni. Also a Dartmouth alumnus, he had served as a member of Dartmouth’s President’s Leadership Council.

Before Dartmouth, he had a 29-year career in finance in New York City. He was most recently vice chairman of The Cypress Group LLC, a firm that he co-founded and co-managed. The Cypress Group is a private equity firm which managed funds totaling $3.5 billion. Prior to co-founding Cypress, he served as a senior vice president and then a managing director of Lehman Brothers. He began his career in New York with The Chase Manhattan Bank NA. He also was a vice president with The First National Bank of Chicago and a senior vice president with GE Capital Corporate Finance Group Inc.

He received an AB in history cum laude in 1976 from Dartmouth and a master's of business administration in finance from New York University in 1984.
