The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers – IEEE Republic of Philippines Section (IEEE PS) held its General Assembly and Election on January 24, 2019 held at Tramway Buffet Timog, Quezon City. Engr. Christian P. Enoval, IEEE Young Professionals Philippines Chairman, emceed the event which was attended by the officers, active members, candidates for election, and student branch representatives from the academe and industry.
Dr. Gerardo Villacorta Jr., former IEEE PS Chair and now Life Member, delivered the opening remarks and shared some details of the Philippines Section’s history. After which, Dr. Jennifer Dela Cruz, the outgoing IEEE PS President, highlighted the accomplishments of the organization for the past two years and its current status.
Prior to the election, Dr. Rhandley Cajote from the University of the Philippines and Dr. Argel Bandala from the De La Salle University who were both running for presidency were given the opportunity to discuss their respective general plan of actions which was followed by Engr. Edison Roxas who explained the voting procedures. Student Branch representatives from Mapua University, University of the Philippines and University of the East – Caloocan helped to facilitate the event and entire election process.
After all the members had taken the unlimited sumptuous dinner, the newly elected officers were announced by Dr. Jennifer Dela Cruz. Dr. Rhandley Cajote from the University of the Philippines won as the President-Elect. Below is the list of the newly elected officers.
