The Future of RTU/Gateway

As microprocessor or computing technology becomes more mature, unavoidably we are observing integration across features RTU and gateway. The industry is even researching the virtualization of relays in server grade computing hardware.

Since the convergence of IT and OT could take years to migrate, what is the near future of RTU/Gateway requires to allow end users of utilities and industrial to inch towards a more integrated and virtualized environment of the long term?

The takeaway from this presentation is to begin a dialog among end users, manufacturers, and integrators to push for a RTU/gateway path that are beneficial to all players from cost, maintenance, and management perspective.
