Designing Ethical Artificial Intelligence

You are invited to attend the Friday April 26 Susquehanna Section Life Member Luncheon and a presentation by Robert Donaldson on the ethics of designing artificial intelligent sysytems.

THIS LUNCHEON IS OPEN TO ALL SECTION MEMBERS, GUESTS AND STUDENTS

Synopsis: We are entering a world where machines and systems are being introduced to manufacturing, transportation, retail, entertainment, home and military which are operating to greater degrees of autonomy.  While considering ethics when designing systems in the past was factor, today it is highly critical that the autonomous systems being developed today have a major ethics component to their design not only for our safety but more importantly our survival.  It will not be long before the intelligence of our machines will not only equal our own but will greatly surpass us.

IEEE has started a worldwide collaborative activity to recommend industry guidelines in the design of ethical autonomous systems to safe guard of both its builders and users.  The presentation will highlight the progress being made by IEEE to this end.  This will also be an opportunity for you to express your interest and concern pertaining to designing future safe ethical AI systems.
