IEEE-GRSS Gujarat chapter (https://www.ieee-grss-gujaratsection.org/) is primarily involved in capacity building activities in advanced remote sensing technologies such as microwave and hyper-spectral remote sensing, satellite data analysis through machine learning and artificial intelligence in Geoscience applications. The society is engaged in bridging the gap between the Indian students/researchers andinternational experts in the fields through organization of various training programs, expert lectures, workshops and summer training programs. IEEE-GRSS Gujarat publishes chapter newsletter periodically showing technical articles and activities carried out by the chapter. Previous issues of the newsletter can be obtained from the chapter website.

Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) polarimetry (PolSAR) and SAR polarimetric interferometry (PolInSAR) are among the most advanced techniques of microwave remote sensing and have shown great potential in geoscience applications in recent years. With the proliferation of air-borne and space-borne synthetic aperture radars capable of producing polarimetric SAR data, there has been growing interests among the remote sensing and geoscience research community to explore and learn the advanced techniques to utilize the data for various geoscience and planetary science applications. With this background, the tutorial on SAR polarimetry and SAR Interferometry has been arranged with the internationally renowned experts in the field for the larger interests of IEEE-GRSS members in India.
