National Engineers Week 2020

IEEE Southeastern Michigan Computer Society and the Oakland University IEEE Student Branch are organizing a technology talk by Sharan Kalwani, Senior Member IEEE. The talk will be held concurrently by celebrating National Engineers Week, at Oakland University on February 19th, from 5:30 to 7:30 PM at the Math Science Center, room 185. At this meeting ourguest speaker will talk about the diverse ways the engineering world has contributed to our lives. He will also highlight the work done by the IEEE over the years besides talking about progress of technology. 

Engineers – like all pioneers – use their knowledge, creativity, and sense of adventure to cross frontiers. Engineers have led us into space and deep below the ocean's surface. They have connected millions of people through advances in communications and transportation. During Engineers Week 2020, 16-22 February, we celebrate engineers and how they improve our lives. We also invite each of you to bring along friends/colleagues/peers - who you feel will benefit from attending this meeting/celebration.

Biography:

Sharan Kalwani is an industry technology specialist with 25+ years of experience. Sharan has degrees in both Engineering and Computer Science. He has worked in many diverse areas. He is a sought after speaker at many a diverse conference and seminars, such as Supercomputing, HPC Advisory Council, SIAM, Infiniband Trade Association, etc. He has delivered several tutorials, workshops and chaired Birds-of-a-Feather (BoF) sessions. Sharan is a senior member of IEEE-Computer Society, IEEE-Education Society and Vehicle Tech Society, an Emeritus member of Michigan!UNIX/user group (mug.org) the oldest of the *nix user groups based in Michigan (since 1985), member of Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) and also leads the SIG-Linux section of SEMCO. He enjoys teaching, holds an Adjunct Faculty position at local educational sites.
