The Collins GPS Story
Join the CRIEEE for a virtual presentation entitled The Collins GPS Story on Thursday, May 28th from 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm. The presentation will be held over Webex. To attend, register for the event and we will email out a Webex link a few days in advance.
Robert Erlandson, Don Stulken, and John Keefer, who all worked on the first Collins GPS receiver system for the Air Force Avionics Lab, will be describing the early technological developments at Collins that rapidly propelled GPS from a military proof-of-concept demonstration to a practical means of accurate worldwide positioning, navigation, and timing. Along with some interesting history, they will also describe Collins' role in later developments that led to the widespread GPS adoption in aircraft, ground transport, precision agriculture, construction, communication network timing and even today’s cell phones.
