SELECT Center - Utah State

The SELECT Center consortium located at Utah State University has graciously allow IEEE to join them in their technical series on work being performed for the consortium.  They will be holding a Brown Bag lunch technical presentation in which Dorai Yelaverthi, PhD candidate at Utah State University, will present on research work currently underway at the USU Power Electronics Laboratory on Unfolding based quasi-single stage three-phase AC to DC converters. This approach can achieve higher power density and efficiency compared to two-stage topologies. He will present a brief literature review of various topologies followed by the quantitative benefits of the Unfolding approach. Prototype design details and experimental results of 560 kW Medium Voltage (4.16 kV) AC to 800 VDC will also be discussed.
