Virtual IEEE OC Computer Soc. & OC ACM Meeting "Personal Privacy"
We will discuss several items related to privacy in general. We will start with a general background on privacy, its meanings and interpretation in the law over the years. We will then cover not only individual privacy, but new California laws regarding new legislation (AB375) and its implications for consumers, social media companies and other tertiary firms that use data harvested online, including specific person rights to control and restriction of that data. We will conclude with a similar treatment of workplace privacy and the implications for employees and employers, covering also impacts on public sector agencies and local governments, and their handling of constituent data. Discussions are happening in Sacramento on increasing the liability of elected officials who are not addressing privacy and cyber resiliency adequately.
