A New Theoretical Approach for Impulse Response of a rectangular enclosure and its Numerical Extension
A classical response of the planar surface to a point source is extended to an analytical model of a 3-D enclosure response. The challenge of estimating an exact absorption coefficient of the enclosure for a given reverberation time has been addressed in this work. The presented approach is not limited to the volume, characteristic property and the operating frequency of the enclosure. This theoretical exposition is based on the wave mechanics of the point source and its mirror images in the enclosure.
