Radio Active: US Military Communications in WWII
Many wars have major effects on the technologies that we use in our daily lives. Compared to other wars, World War II had the greatest effect on the technology and devices that are used today. Communications played a huge role in the conduct of WWII and none more than the devices designed and built for the US military. This talk will introduce some of the highlights of that effort.
Biography:
Mike Simons has directed the National Electronics Museum since 2005. Mike has a BA from Kent State University and a MA from Southern Illinois University. He trained as an archeologist, doing fieldwork and research in India, Micronesia, the Greater Antilles, and the Eastern U.S. Twentieth Century technology has been a lifelong passion and research interest.
