The Workshop on the Future of Antennas is conducted by the IEEE SIGHT and AP/MTT society . The objectives of the workshop is to review the classical antennas and also emerging trends in advanced antenna research and design, and use of advanced antennas that enable improved communication, data transfer, soldier health monitoring, and other overt and covert methods of standoff data collection. The workshop session was organized at Prof. Ulrich L. Rohde's house. The sessions, consisting of  2 hrs  presentations and discussions on how to design antennas for modern communication applications.

Antenna Design Workshop

Antennas are virtually everywhere. From commercial applications such as smartphones, RFID tags, and wireless printers, to defense applications such as phased array antennas for aircraft radar systems or satellite-based, to provide integrated ground based communication systems. ANSYS HFSS excels at a wide variety of high frequency, full-wave, electromagnetic applications including antenna design and placement since it uses multiple advanced solver techniques to simulate not just the antenna but also the effects of its interaction with the entire system, including the feeding system as well as the platform. This workshop focuses on antenna design and platform integration. Attendees will learn how to streamline their antenna design and integration flow by generating and utilizing ANSYS HFSS 3D Component models for use in electrically large simulations. By combining finite elements and shooting and bouncing ray techniques, realistic antenna installations are efficiency and quickly analyzed all within ANSYS Electronics Desktop. Whether you are new to simulation or an expert ANSYS HFSS user, this workshop will be valuable to learn about the latest technologies and best practices.
