IEEE Seattle YP August Event: Snoqualmie Falls Hydroelectric Plant Tour
IEEE Seattle YP is partnering with the Puget Sound Energy to participate in a unique and historic tour of one of Washington’s greatest engineering marvels. Snoqualmie Falls Hydroelectric Project is one of the oldest hydropower plants in the United States. After operating for more than a century, the facility still produces clean, renewable electricity for PSE customers. Built in 1898-99, the powerhouse is encased in bedrock 260 feet beneath the surface and was the world's first completely underground power plant.
The tour will consists of a museum tour, chronicling Charles Bakers development of the project and an underground powerhouse tour, where you can witness the existing generators in action. Students and Young Professionals in all engineering disciplines are encouraged to join!
Use the link above to register for the event. We are asking for $5 registration fee to hold your spot… this money will be used for door prizes. Join us for this awesome event!
