The world is changing at a rapidly increasing pace. We need to understand the risks associated with current and future changes in order to engineer safe, reliable and socially acceptable systems and products. In this talk I will explore changes that impact control of engineered systems from a sociotechnical perspective. I will share insights into the type of approaches we need to develop and adopt to identify and address current and emerging risks in ways that ensure the integrity and sustainability of our engineered systems.
