  The value of standards to modern life is immeasurable. The process for cr
 eating them is actually multi-faceted and interesting. The IEEE Standards 
 Association\, a producer of global standards\, has been in the standards b
 usiness for 100 years. Karen Bartleson\, President-Elect of the IEEE-Stand
 ards Association\, will tell you the story of the IEEE-SA and give you an 
 appreciation of the Association's scope of effort\, its roles and responsi
 bilities\, its standards-development process\, and how our local engineers
  can get involved. The first 30 people who attend this session will receiv
 e a complimentary copy of Karen’s short book\, “The Ten Comma
 ndments for Effective Standards”. Attendance to the meeting is FREE 
 to IEEE members as well as non-members. Pizza and sodas will be available:
