DESCRIPTION:This one-day workshop is intended to introduce the basic concep
ts of multilevel inverters to young researchers and academia. This worksho
p consists of two modules. In the first module\, which consists of two lec
tures\, the basic theoretical framework is laid out for multilevel inverte
rs in general and an emerging configuration known as dual-inverter fed ope
n-end winding configuration in particular. Starting from the basic operati
on of the time tested\, industry standard two-level inverter configuration
\, the evolution and proliferation of various multilevel inverter configur
ations would be explained in detail. Various types of PWM techniques suita
ble for the multilevel inverter configurations would also be dealt with. I
n the second module would also consist of two lectures. In this module\, a
dvanced topologies of open-end winding induction motor along with some spe
cial PWM techniques to avoid common-mode voltages\, which are deleterious
to the shaft and bearings of the motor\, would be explained.\n\nSpeaker(s)
