DESCRIPTION:Speaker: Assist. Prof. Hüseyin Arda Ülkü\, Gebze Technical U
niversity\n\nTopic: "Quantum Corrected Plasmonic Field Analysis using Time
Domain Surface Integral Equation Solvers"\n\nLocation: Middle East Techni
cal University\, Ankara\, Turkey\n\nAbstract: When two structures are with
in sub-nanometer distance of each other\, quantum tunneling effect becomes
relevant. These effects cannot be accurately modeled by classical electro
magnetic solvers. In this study\, an auxiliary tunnel that connects the st
ructures is introduced to model the quantum tunneling effect. The quantum
model of the tunnel is obtained using density functional theory (DFT) comp
utations\, which account for the atomic structure of materials. The plasmo
nic fields on the resulting connected structure are analyzed using a time
domain surface integral equation solver. Time domain samples of the disper
sive medium Green function and the dielectric permittivities are computed
from the analytical inverse Fourier transform applied to the rational func
tion representation of their frequency domain samples. Numerical results\,
which demonstrate the effect of the quantum correction on the transient e
lectromagnetic interactions\, will be presented.\n\nBio: Hüseyin Arda Ül

g from Gebze Technical University (GTU)\, Kocaeli\, Turkey\, in 2006\, 200
