DESCRIPTION:Title: Pacific Gas & Electric’s New Pole Loading Database\n\n
Presenter: John (JB) Birch - Manager - PG&E’s Electric Asset Management\
, Engineering Center of Excellence.\n\nABSTRACT :\n\nOn December 28\, 2017
\, PG&E integrated a new database called the Pole Loading Database (PLDB)
into their enterprise platforms of GIS and SAP. The database and its innov
ative structure is intended to replace the need to save individual “flat
” files as Pole Loading Calculations – instead\, any analysis of a pol
e and its facilities can be saved as a new version of the PLDB record –
maintaining an asset-centric history of each pole going forward. The datab
ase was also pre-loaded with values based on existing SAP and GIS records
for each pole (height\, class\, span lengths\, wood strength\, etc.) – w
e call these records “Baseline” calculations. Any pole in our system c
an now be hovered over in our GIS Web Viewer to reveal its safety factor o
r clicked to jump into any saved version of a 3-D model for that structure
. The latest activities and information can also be viewed through our new
SAP dashboard\, dubbed “ZPOLE.”\n\nLunch will be provided (includes v
egetarian). There will be a $5 fee to IEEE Members and a $10 fee to Non Me
mbers. Payments to be made in person (cash or check) at the event.\n\nThe
SF PES Chapter AdCom is mindful of our environment and food waste. As a co
urtesy\, please email our Secretary\, Rahul Anilkumar (ranilkumar@quanta-t
echnology.com) no later than the day before the event if you absolutely ne
ed to cancel your reservation. Thank you!\n\nSpeaker(s): John (JB) Birch -
