DESCRIPTION:Teacher In-Service Program (TISP)\n\nNASA supports promoting ST
EM outreach to strengthen the educational advancement of students and enco
urages their pursuit of future careers in science\, technology\, engineeri
ng and mathematics. The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers
(IEEE) also shares this mission\, and seeks to support it by hosting the I
EEE Teacher In-Service Program (TISP).\n\nTISP is a professional developme
nt workshop aimed at helping K-12 teachers bring exciting hands-on enginee
ring lessons into their classrooms. IEEE volunteers collaborate with K-12
schools in their local communities to deliver the hands-on program. The pr
ogram's goals are to empower engineers to collaborate with their local com
munity\; promote applied inquiry-based learning\; enhance the level of tec
hnical literacy of pre-university educators\; and encourage pre-university
students to pursue technical careers\, including engineering. Participant
s will gain valuable tools that can be used for in-class applications.\n\n
Participants can either take one session or both sessions because the morn
ing and afternoon material differs. To encourage participation\, stipends
of $125 are available to help cover the cost of hiring a substitute teache
r. A fee of $25 is collected at registration that will help cover material
s for the sessions. This program is limited to 20 participants per session
. After the maximum attendees have been reached\, a wait list will be main
tained for cancellations and future sessions.\n\nFor more information\, co
