DESCRIPTION:Speaker: Dr. Said Emre Alper\, Mikrosistemler Co. Ltd.\n\nTopic
: "High Performance MEMS Gyroscopes and MEMS Accelerometers"\n\nLocation:
Middle East Technical University\, Ankara\, Turkey\n\nAbstract: Inertial s
ensors are the core integrated components that measure the position and or
ientation of any moving platform\, currently ranging from cell phones to a
ircrafts. The cost and size advantages provided by microelectromechanical
systems (MEMS) technologies enabled some newborn inertial sensing applicat
ions especially for consumer and industrial fields. Starting from 1990s\,
MEMS inertial sensors emerged into several commercial markets such as auto
motive engineering\, household appliances\, as well as robotics. Ongoing r
esearch in combination with the progress in MEMS fabrication technologies
now yields even higher performance MEMS inertial sensors. Today\, it is po
ssible to realize MEMS accelerometers with several g bias stability and
MEMS gyroscopes with bias stabilities approaching to and even lower than
1deg/hr. This talk will present an overview of MEMS inertial sensors as we
ll as the current activities running at Mikrosistemler\, the only MEMS com
pany in Turkey that can design and produce its own gyroscopes and accelero
meters.\n\nSpeaker(s): Said Emre Alper\, \n\nAnkara\, Ankara\, Türkiye
