DESCRIPTION:During our monthly technical session on Jul 02nd\, Jeremy Cole
from NCSU Electrical and Computing based Active Robotic Sensing (ARoS) Lab
oratory will talk about the broader aspects and current state of the art r
elated to Biobots related NC state research group project. It is amazing t
o observe study of sensor equipped cyber cockroaches since the past few ye
ars.\n\nBiobot project aims to develop a mobile sensor network where insec
ts are used as mobile biological-robotic (biobotic) nodes. It is very inte
resting to note that a cyber-physical communication network established be
tween the insects using RF links\, along with the neuromuscular stimulatio
n system to direct the control of the insects.\n\nPer NSF\, Autonomous nav
igation in unknown and dynamic environments has been a major challenge for
synthetic mobile robotic agents. On the other hand\, insects can easily s
olve such complex navigational problems and demonstrate remarkably stable
and optimized locomotion skills in almost any environment. The derived inf
ormation like pose estimation of biobot agents are used in solving complex
problems of life.\n\nPlease read more about NSF awarded Cinema Project be

ocuses on the development of tools for the fields of pattern recognition\,

r to solve problems in the areas of wearable health and environmental moni
 toring\, robotics and computer vision.\n\nSpeaker Information:\n\nJeremy C
ole is a graduate research assistant and a 4th year PhD student\, receivin
g his Bachelor and Master degrees at NC State. Jeremy has worked on motion
planning for steerable medical needles and am currently interested in nav

of the Biobotic agents used in the CINEMA project.\n\nIEEE ENCS RA24 chap

esearch in this topic that can reach those interested people\, thus positi
vely fostering our local technical community. We wish continued success an
