DESCRIPTION:The Women in Power Engineering (WIPE-2018) is an IEEE PES Banga
 lore Chapter initiative to create the awareness and to foster the careers\
 , connections and talent of women in the power industry. This workshop fac
 ilitates to achieve their full potential to become the leaders of the futu
 re. WIPE focuses to enable and energize women to increase the participatio
 n\, contribution and success of women in power engineering.\nWiPE provides
  a great opportunity for women professionals from academics\, industry\, r
 esearch organizations\, entrepreneurs\, B.Tech &amp; M.Tech student and PhD Sc
 holars to network with successful women in field of power and energy. It i
 s meant to provide a platform for networking and share the issues and chal
 lenges faced by women professional. The WIPE is an interactive workshop de
 voted to the discussion and the interchange of new developments and ideas 
 in Power and Energy\n\nIEEE-PES &amp; IAS joint student branch chapter [PE31/I
 A34-SBC63931] of Amrita School of Engineering (ASE)\, Bengaluru (Blr) on 2
 8/07/2018 from 9:30 am to 4.30 pm in Krishna Hall of Amrita School of Engi
 neering\, Bengaluru hosted a workshop WiPE(Women in Power Engineering).\n\
 nThe workshop commenced with a lamp lighting ceremony by\n\n- Dr. Ravishan
 kar S.\, Chairman of the EEE Department-ASE-Blr.\n- IEEE-PES chair Bangalo
 re chapter - Mr Suresh- POSOCO\n- IEEE-PES chair - 2017 Bangalore chapter 
 - Mr Sethuraman Ganeshan- ABB\n- IEEE-PES chair - 2016 Bangalore chapter -
  Mr Kannan- PRDC\n- Chief Guest – Mrs Padmasri Krishnamurthy- ABB\n\nFol
 lowed by an invocation song by Ms.Sarasvati\, PG Scholar. The IEEE PES EXE
 COM member and mentor of IEEE-PES &amp; IAS-ASE Blr joint student branch chapt
 er\, Dr. K. Deepa formally welcomed the gathering.\n\nMr. Suresh\, IEEE-PE
 S chair Bangalore chapter introduced the foundation of IEEE to the gatheri
 ng. His talk shed light on the benefits of joining IEEE and the importance
  of conferences being conducted all over the nation. He concluded his talk
  by exhilarating the gathering to make IEEE prosper to much greater height
 s.\n\nThe Workshop started with the talk from chief guest of the day Mrs. 
 Padmasri Krishnamurthy\, the Vice President of BU - Distribution Solutions
  at ABB Ltd. She emphasized the necessity and utilization of data in day t
 o day life of a person. Nevertheless\, she addressed many relevant innovat
 ive ideas being developed in the field of data communication. Her talk thr
 ew light on the ease of communication because of the sufficient availabili
 ty of data at cheaper and affordable costs. She briefed how SCADA systems\
 , machine learning\, automation and peer to peer kind of block chain train
 ing is contributing to digitalization. She put forth her views on the topi
 cs of digitization.\n\nMr. Sethuraman Ganesan\, IEEE-PES chair - 2017 Bang
 alore chapter then addressed the vote of thanks.\n\nThe second speaker of 
 the day was Mrs. Shanti\, GM-TCE\, Bengaluru. She spoke on the emerging ar
 eas in the power sector which included smart grids\, micro grids and elect
 ric vehicles. The speaker explained the concept of an ideal grid and the o
 bjectives of a smart city mission and shared her views on the applications
  of home automation and concluded her talk by discussing the features of m
 icro grids and the increase in efficiency by the usage of renewable power.
 \n\nThis was followed by a tea break and a photo session with the dignitar
 ies.\n\nMridula Chhetri\, the Founder CEO at Inmovidu Technologies Pvt Lim
 ited shared her experiences and her difficulties as an entrepreneur. Her t
 alk focused on women empowerment and the need of planning and belief in on
 eself to overcome the difficulties in the journey of life. She narrated he
 r own experiences of dealing complex problems with innovative solutions. S
 he enlightened the basic idea and mission of establishment of her company.
  Furthermore to add\, she expressed her contribution towards ‘Inmovidu T
 echnologies’ which focuses on the welfare and the security of the employ
 ed ladies with regards to learning any field of art. She exhibited a short
  video on the importance of observation which stirred the crowd with admir
 ation\n\nThere was a subsequent lunch break to the talk.\n\nMrs. Praveena 
 Kandula was the fourth speaker of the day. She appraised the gathering on 
 stress management. She expounded the concept of stress through a roller co
 aster and a water bottle scenario. By the means of a human function curve\
 , she tried to explain the decline in the performance due to increased str
 ess in an individual. She described the various stress related diseases an
 d techniques to tackle them. In conclusion\, she stimulated the gathering 
 with an origami session to manage stress.\n\nThe final speaker of the day 
 was Dr. K.Uma Rao\, a Professor at RV College of Engineering\, Bangalore. 
 She elaborated the significance of time management and discussed the benef
 its. She further elucidated the obstacles to effective time management and
  the prioritization of goals. By the usage of relevant examples of time ma
 nagement\, she rose the spirits of the gathering. She concluded her talk b
 y emphasizing the need to organize the tasks.\n\nThe workshop culminated w
 ith a vote of thanks by Dr. K. Deepa thanking the speakers and the partici
 pants.\n\nThis was a great opportunity for women professionals from academ
