DESCRIPTION:Imagine no internet\, no cell phones\, no TV\, no broadcast Rad
io? It would certainly not be life as we know it. With limited communicati
on\, limited collaboration\, and limited information sharing\, our possibi
lities and horizon of opportunities would be pale in comparison to what th
ey are today.\n\nThe IEEE Rochester Section in partnership with the Antiqu
e Wireless Museum is offering an opportunity to see just how we got to whe
re we are now\, and a closeup look at the electronic technologies and tool
s used on that journey.\n\nAgenda:\n\nWe will meet at the Antique Wireless
Museum on Saturday Nov. 10th at 10:00 am\, where it’s Director\, Bob Ho
bday\, will present a 45-minute talk titled “How Radio Changed Society
”. This will be followed by a 1-1½ hour guided tour of the museum by th
eir expert staff\, allowing us to discover their rich collection of radio
and video devices from the worlds of commercial\, military\, and amateur c
ommunication. Through this tour\, we will retrace the technical path of a
journey that continues today.\n\nAfter the museum tour\, about 12:15\, and
for those who choose to do so\, we will go to a friendly neighborhood res
taurant for lunch (Cheap Charlie's). For people who choose to go to lunch\
, they will be responsible for their own lunch charges.\n\nThis is a rare
opportunity to benefit from leadership and commitment of the Antique Wirel
ess Association in preserving and sharing our wireless legacy.\n\nNOTE RED
UCED FEE STRUCTURE: There will be an early registration fee of $3 thru 11/
2\, a fee of $5 from 11/3 thru 11/6\, and a fee of $7 afterword. (For thos
e who initially paid $7 during the early period\, you will be refunded $4)
