DESCRIPTION:[MacroFab](http://www.macrofab.com/) and [Mouser Electronics](h
ttp://www.mouser.com/) have teamed up to create a FREE monthly meetup in H
ouston for anyone involved with hardware & electronics engineering or manu
facturing. These meetups are designed to build a community of professional
s who want to learn from one another\, gain new insights into emerging ele
ctronics technologies\, and expand their network.\n\nSpeakers:\n\nPaul DeC
arlo - DevOps and the Internet of Things\n\nIan Uriarte - The state of the
practice for industrial IoT projects - Best practices.\n\nTopics:\n\nDevO
ps and the Internet of Things - The Internet of Things requires a new para
digm of software development practices for enabling quality DevOps practic
es in development\, deployment\, testing\, and release cycles. We find tha
t development in this space often involves the management of potentially t
housands of devices\, mandatory field updates\, and an ability to securely
manage the distribution of code to those devices from a trusted authority
. We will discuss these issues in detail and look at how these particular
cases are solved with service offerings from Microsoft including Azure Dev
Ops\, IoT Edge\, and Kubernetes Services.\n\nThe state of the practice for
industrial IoT projects - Best practices. - Industrial IoT (IIoT) is comp
lex due to the integration of sensors\, sensor networks\, data\, and dispa
rate applications. It is also complex due to the nature of governance betw
een OT and IT. Different governance and different skill sets get in the wa
y of smooth integration. Such custom solutions become hard to maintain or
upgrade. Simple IoT solutions leverage standardized hardware and closed/pr
oprietary software solutions to keep simplicity. On the other hand\, enter
prise-level solutions are usually a box of parts that require multiple ski
ll sets and thousands of hours of development\, IT\, and engineering to de
liver value. At the end of 2016\, 60% of IoT initiatives stall at the Proo
f of Concept stage. We will walk through current best practices and a fram
ework to create a plug and play approach to Enterprise IoT Projects. We wi
ll see how to leverage tools including open source frameworks\, cloud serv
ices\, and in particular\, IBM Watson IoT platform\, to help enterprises s
implify this problem.\n\nWho is this event for:\n\n- Electrical Engineers\
