DESCRIPTION:The Atlanta Signal Processing Chapter is honored to host Distin
guished Industry Speaker Dr. Alfonso Farina for a seminar on Radar technol
ogies at Giorgia Tech.\n\nThis event is co-sponsored by the Georgia Tech S
chool of Electrical and Computer Engineering.\n\nDr. Farina lecture will p
rovide an in-depth look into the role of radar in several fields of engine
ering\, providing a brief historical overview and presenting several real
applications. This will include an overview of Radar applications from und
erground to earth imaging and Space Situational Awareness (SSA)\, SAR (Syn
thetic Aperture Radar) and SAR differential interferometry\, mitigating th
e electromagnetic spectrum erosion\, SKA (Square Kilometer Array) for radi
o astronomy\, and the first detection of gravitational waves by dispersed
interferometers. In conclusion\, Dr. Farina will look at the future of Rad
ar\, and what is coming next.\n\nThe IEEE SP Distinguished Industry Speake
r (DIS) Program provides means for chapters to have access to individuals
who are recognized experts with a background in industrial applications in
the signal processing area and are well versed in the ongoing issues and
activities in industry.\n\nDr. Farina has more than 30 years of experience
in radar systems and radar signal processing in both industry and academi
 a. His achievements are recognized internationally with more than 700 peer
reviewed publications and some very prestigious awards\, including the IE
EE Dennis J. Picard Medal for Radar Technologies and Application in 2010 a
nd the appointment to International Fellow of the Royal Academy of Enginee
 ring\, U.K. in 2005.\n\nhttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alfonso_Farina\n\nPa
