DESCRIPTION:Speaker: Asst. Prof. Serap Aksu\, Koç University\n\nTopic: "Se
eing Proteins in the Infrared: Plasmofluidics and Spectroscopy"\n\nLocatio
n: Middle East Technical University\, Ankara\, Turkey\n\nAbstract: Combina
tion of Photonics with Biology has been generating smart solutions for chr
onic methodological problems in biology. In this talk I will explain a var
iety of plasmonic biosensors operating in optical frequencies and their ap
plications on spectroscopy. I will show how we use them to detect and iden
tify even few amounts of proteins in the context of immune cell signaling.
\n\nBio: Serap Aksu has been an Assistant Professor at Koç University\, P
hysics Department. She received her PhD from Boston University in 2013 and
BS from Sabancı University in 2008\, both in Materials Science and Engin
eering. She worked in ETH Zurich Biosystems Science and Engineering as pos
tdoctoral fellow. She is the recipient of AXA Research Fund\, Outstanding
Dissertation Award from Boston University and ETH Zurich Postdoctoral Fell
owship.\n\nSpeaker(s): Asst. Prof. Serap Aksu\, \n\nAnkara\, Ankara\, Tür
