DESCRIPTION:On 17th November 2018\, IEEE AIUB Student Branch in collaborati
 on with IEEE Industry Application Society AIUB SB Chapter &amp; IEEE AIUB Stud
 ent Branch WIE Affinity Group successfully organized an industrial tour to
  Max Power Limited: 78.5 MW Gas-Based Power Plant of MAX Group situated at
  Ghorashal\, Polash\, Narshingdi. The 78.5 MW gas-based power Plant is the
  1st power plant constructed by MAX. The expedition was a delightful oppor
 tunity for the participants who were interested in the field of electrical
  technology and power sector.\n\nThe team of students was led by Susmita G
 hosh\, Assistant Professor\, Faculty of Engineering\, AIUB\; Abir Ahmed\, 
 Lecturer\, Faculty of Engineering\, AIUB &amp; Shahriar Parvez Tushar\, Teache
 r Assistant\, Faculty of Engineering\, AIUB. On arrival to the site\, Md. 
 Shamsuddoha\,Project Manager\, MAX Power Limited welcomed the students and
  Mr. Nurunnobi Khan\, General Manager\, MAX Power Limited gave the initial
  briefing to the students about the power plant. He discussed about the po
 wer plant and its infrastructure. Mr. Nurunnobi Khan informed that MAX has
  done the complete EPC of this simple cycle power plant using 4 × TM2500 
 Gas turbine for this project. Upon successful completion of the first phas
 e\, Max Power got an extension of 5 years and MAX has done EPC of the new 
 plant using 2 × LM6000 gas turbine. He further added that Max Power achie
 ved COD on 9th January 2016 and this Power plant is relentlessly supplying
  electricity to national power grid since then and soon going to be conver
 ted into the combined cycle.\n\nLater\, the students were divided into thr
 ee groups and each of the students was provided with a helmet to enter the
  power plant. The groups were instructed by Md Mozaffer Hosen Akanda\, Dep
 uty Manager (Mechanical)\, MAX Power Limited\; Md Ferdous Zaman\, Asst. En
 gineer (Mechanical)\, MAX Power Limited and A.R.M. Golam Sarwar\, Engineer
  (Mechanical)\, Max Power Limited. Throughout the expedition\, the student
 s were given many valuable information and gained good experience. The stu
 dents were shown the Gas Booster Compressor as a gas pressure goes to the 
 turbine from 150 to 600 PSI. The Air Compressor was also shown to the stud
 ents which can compress up to 7bar. The Air Compressor contains two dryer 
 and two compressors. The power plant has two turbines of LM6000\, substati
 on with the transformer of 11KV-132 KV capabilities\, water treatment wher
 e the demineralized water goes through Reverse Osmosis and a big control r
 oom. The eager students were delighted to have the experience to see all t
 hese and gather so much knowledge about them. The venture was concluded by
  handing out a token of appreciation to Mr. Nurunnobi Khan by Susmita Ghos
 h on behalf of IEEE AIUB Student Branch. A total of 50 IEEE student member
 s from the Department of EEE\, AIUB participated in the industrial tour.\n
