DESCRIPTION:WiDS Calgary at the Schulich School of Engineering provides opp
 ortunities to hear about the latest data science-related research and appl
 ications\, connect with others\, and celebrate the work of outstanding wom
 en in this dynamic field. It is sponsored by IEEE\, Schulich School of Eng
 ineering\, Faculty of Science and the American Society of Mechanical Engin
 eers (ASME).\n\nThe conference provides a great opportunity to network wit
 h industry professionals and researchers and also learning the latest data
  science-related research\, developments\, and applications from local spe
 akers as well as from leading experts in the global industry at the main W
 iDS conference in Stanford University. We will also organize a poster pres
 entation session in which female professionals and researchers from relate
 d science and engineering disciplines will present their research. It also
  provides the opportunity for students and attendees to connect with other
 s and present their work during the poster presentation session. We have 5
  local talks all will be presented by female speakers. Two of the speakers
  are former graduate students at the University of Calgary.\n\nRegistratio

 \n\nCall for Posters\n\nA poster session will be held in conjunction with 
 Women in Data Science (WiDS) Event at the University of Calgary on March 4
 \, 2019.\n\nFemale professionals and researchers from related science and 
 engineering disciplines are welcome to submit their work for interactive (
 poster) presentation at the WiDS event. Interested participants shall send
  a short abstract (maximum 250 words) of their work to the conference comm
 ittee via email at widscalgary@ucalgary.ca by February 22\, 2019. Proposed
  abstracts may describe the participant’s work in progress or completed 
 projects in any areas of data analytics.\n\nThe Technical Committee will r
 eview the abstracts to assure quality and relevance. Authors will be notif
 ied of acceptance on February 25\, 2019. Accepted abstracts will be collec
 ted as a booklet available to the event attendees\, including industry rep
 resentatives and potential employers.\n\nAuthors of accepted abstracts are
  also expected to\n\n- prepare and print a poster of size A1 (59.4 x 84.1 
 cm) in portrait orientation using the conference poster template (download
  the poster template from [here](https://www.dropbox.com/s/grnla4vzrxd0ifz
 /Wids_Poster%20Template_Green_Portraite.pptx?dl=0))\,\n- be present in fro
 nt of their poster during the poster session.\n\nBest Poster Award\n\nThe 
 conference committee will select the best three posters presented during t
 he interactive poster session. The winners of the Best Poster Awards are a
 nnounced during the closing ceremony of the WiDS Event and will receive $3
