DESCRIPTION:The Alabama Section and the Communication Society has invited L
iangping Ma from InterDigital\, Inc. to talk to us about 5G Technologies\,
Standards and Commercialization\n\n5G is coming soon\, as clearly evidenc
ed by recent Winter Olympic 5G demos in South Korea and industrial shows s
uch as the 2018 Mobile World Congress (MWC). But what is 5G? What is the r
elationship to existing standards such as LTE and Wi-Fi? In this talk\, we
give a holistic view of 5G. We look at key technologies at the radio acce
ss network - the New Radio (NR) - and dive into the details of waveforms\,
numerology\, channel coding\, MIMO and mmWave. We also cover the core net
work - Next Generation Core (NGC) - and explain how NR and NGC together ma
y deliver the extraordinary performance. We describe the 3GPP standards st
atus and look at the landscape of 5G commercialization\, including potenti
al killer applications\, ecosystems and the impact of regulatory policies.
\n\nThe event will be held on Wednesday\, August 1\, 2018\, at Red Lobster
  (on Hwy 31)\n\nSpeaker(s): Liangping Ma\, \n\nAgenda: \n* 6:00 PM - Dinne
