DESCRIPTION:The IEEE student branch of Dayananda Sagar University organized
an industrial visit to Sriharikota SDSC-SHAR ISRO on 8th February 2019. T
he students accompanied by faculty departed from Dayananda Sagar Universit
y on 7th February towards Sullurupeta.\n\nThe group arrived at Hotel Lathi
ka on 8th February. They had breakfast and departed for SDSC-SHAR ISRO visi
t at 9:00am. The students and faculty went through a security check before
entering the famous SDSC-SHAR ISRO campus.Luggage and electronic gadgets
were deposited in respective counters before proceeding for the visit.\n\n
A short inaugural video about SDSC-SHAR was shown to the students in the a
uditorium. The video described about its major contributions to the Indian
society and magnificence of SDSC-SHAR.\n\nThe group was then taken to the
Machine Control Centre(MCC) where the launch of the rockets (i.e.PSLV\, GS
LV ) is controlled using various systems that are associated with working
of different parts of the rocket. .The students learned about the activiti
es and procedures that take place at the Machine Control Centre during the
launch period. The stages of rocket launch and the respective procedures p
erformed in the Machine Control Centre were explained.\n\nThe campus has t
wo operational launch pads. The group was taken to the second launch pad wh
ere rockets like Geosynchronous satellite launching vehicle ( GSLV MK-1 an
d GSLV MK-2) with 3 stages of launch are launched. The rockets launched fr
om the second launch pad were assembled at the Assembly building and then
transported to the launchpad for the ignition.A guide provided a brief exp
lanation about the working and function of the launch pad during the time
of launch.\n\nThe students were then taken to the first launching pad wher
e rockets like Polar Satellite Launching Vehicle (PSLV 34\,37\,38) with 4
stages of launch and Reusable Launching Vehicle (RLV) are launched. In thi
s launch pad the rockets are assembled and launched at the same place.\n\n
At 2:00 pm the group had executive lunch at the ISRO canteen and following
which they were taken to the space museum that showcased various models o
f satellites along with brief explanations about them.Details and informat
ion about rockets and their structural naming \, the kinds of fuel used in
them and different types of engines used in them (such as the cryogenic e
 ngine ) were provided.\n\nThe following morning \,the students visited a b
each near Nellore. They were also taken on a boat ride to a nearby island .
The group departed for Srikalahasti Temple after having lunch.Upon arrival
at the temple\,the students and faculty enjoyed the marvelous architectur
e of the centuries old Srikalahasti Temple.\n\nThe group left the temple t
own at 9pm to depart for Bangalore.Arrival at DSU campus\,Kudlu gate was a
 t 6am.\n\nBldg: Dayananda Sagar University\, Bangalore\, Karnataka\, India
