DESCRIPTION:The Paris Agreement aims to limit global temperature rises caus
ed by man-made climate change\, but many say that the 2C target does not g
o far enough. Climate efforts need to be much more ambitious to curb tempe
rature rises and limit the impact of carbon emissions on future generation
s.\n\nAn emerging area of research is rapid decarbonisation\, focused on a
ccelerating efforts beyond the baseline Paris target to limit the temperat
ure rise to 1.5°C and so avert climate disaster.\n\nIn this special one-d
ay event\, IEEE Switzerland PES will investigate the latest positive techn
ological and political developments and outline concrete steps for rapid d
ecarbonisation. By assembling a range of experts we will consider policy\,
economic\, financial and technical perspectives of rapid decarbonisation\
, and investigate business models that could emerge.\n\nThe agenda is avai
 lable [here](https://events.vtools.ieee.org/event_media/download/2538).\n\
