DESCRIPTION:The IEEE Princeton/Central Jersey Broadcast Technology and IEEE
North Jersey/New York Information Theory (IT) Chapters\, jointly with IEE
E METSAC\, invite you to join us at Nokia Bell Labs in Murray Hill\, NJ on

s\, JVC Kenwood\, will give the presentation "The Electronic News Gatherin
g Paradigm Shift". Webex will be available to those who cannot attend in p
erson.\n\nNews from Any Location To Anywhere in the World - the Electronic
News Gathering Paradigm Shift\nAl Kornak\, JVC Kenwood\, Director of Broa
dcast Sales\n\nAbstract - It used to be that a large truck with microwave
dish antenna and extendable mast was an absolute necessity to cover a brea
king news event. This was the normal mode for television Electronic News G
athering (ENG) for decades. Nowadays\, with today’s digital technologies
\, a camera person with a light-weight camera on his or her shoulder can c
over news from almost any location – sending the live video and audio to
anywhere in the world. The camera person and reporter can even be on foot
in order to get to the remote scene of the breaking news story. Not only
have the cameras changed\, but the transmission systems behind the cameras
have gone through a renaissance of their own. Modems operating in the 4G
/ LTE cellular frequency bands now bridge that connection between the came
ra and the TV station master control. At this technical presentation\, we
will describe the methodology behind the “connected cam” ENG system th
at is now in widespread and successful use by television broadcasters in t
he US.\n\nWebex\nIf you attend by Webex\, please register and select the m
enu option "Attend remotely (Webex)". Please note that this will be a best
effort. Webex will be started up around 6:45 pm\, and the presentation wi
ll start at 7 pm. If there are any technical problems\, the on-site meetin
g will get preference.\n\nWebex information:\n\nhttps://ieeemeetings.webex
