DESCRIPTION:On 27 June 2017\, Maersk was hit as part of a global cyber-atta
ck named Petya\, which compromised IT systems across multiple sites and bu
siness units\, including Maersk Oil\, Drilling\, Tanker and Supply Service
 s. The overall cost of the incident was estimated to be USD 250-300M due t
o lost business\, making this one of the most devastating cyber-attacks to
date. The same attack also brought to a halt hospitals\, airports\, banks
and power companies.\nIn recent years\, sensors have been being installed
on board ships to help gain insights from the vast amounts of data obtain
ed. This only exacerbates the need for a stricter cyber safety culture and
solutions\, as the maritime industry becomes increasingly dependent on IT
systems.\nThe NAOME Forum is excited to present the second workshop in ou
r series: “Cybersecurity and Marine Big Data”. This lecture is a chanc
e for you to immerse yourself in an aspect of the maritime industry you ha
d perhaps not previously considered. We encourage you to bring your questi
ons and curiosity to this forum. Even if you don’t have any experience w
ith cybersecurity and big data\, we invite you to come and discover it wit
 h us.\n\nSpeaker(s): George Reilly\, Dr Shishir Nagaraja\n\nRoom: SW105\,
