DESCRIPTION:Abstract:\n\nEducational outcomes of an engineering graduate co
ming out of an academic program is continuously changing with time and the
y are much more significant in the context of explosion of information tec
hnologies. Developing higher order thinking skills and inculcate the skill
of life long learning are recognized as the most sought after educational
outcomes. Developing higher order thinking skills in a heterogeneous grou
p of students in a class is a challenging task for teacher in a learner ce
ntric environment. This talk covers basics of the nuances of learning para
digms\, teaching for learning outcomes\, usage of ICT tools and experienti
al learning as part of teaching process that can help in the development o
f higher order thinking skills.\n\nCo-sponsored by: MJCET\n\nSpeaker(s): D
r DVSS Siva Sarma\, \n\nAgenda: \nDepartment of Electronics and Communicat
ion in collaboration with IEEE Education Society conducted a half day work
shop on ""Learning Paradigms for Outcome Based Education in Digital Era" o
n Saturday\, 30 November 2019 in Seminar Hall\, Block IV\, MJCET from 10.0
0AM to 1.00 PM. The speaker of this workshop was Prof. DVSS Siva Sarma\, P
rofessor\, NIT Warangal.\nThe workshop began with a formal welcome by Head
of the department\, Prof. Arifuddin Sohel followed by introduction of the
speaker by Ms. Salma Fauzia. The speaker stressed upon giving attention t
o the academics and pedagogical aspects of implementation. The speaker and
faculty members discussed collaboratively on the different methodologies
that can be used in the process of teaching and learning.\nThe speaker emp
hasized that the role of a teacher is very limited in societal changes and
hence a teacher should be more relevant and that technology in this digit
al era and teaching-learning should go hand in hand. A teacher should unde
rstand how a learner learns. The speaker introduced a platform for creatin
g digital content by teachers to explain certain subject topics- Edmodo\nT
he session was very interactive with many anecdotes from the faculty membe
rs from their experiences. The participants gave a very enthusiastic respo
nse and engaged in lively and deep discussion with the speaker. There were
55 participants in this session of which 8 were IEEE members.\n\nVenue: C
