DESCRIPTION:Please join us for a technical event on distributed generation
systems and it's contribution to the future of sophisticated power generat
ion and distribution. Please find the details of the event below\;\n\nAbst
ract:\n\nThe power grid is evolving and moving from big power plants based
on conventional sources to small generation units such as nanogrids and m
icrogrids based on renewable sources like wind and solar. Distributed gene
rators based on microgrids can group residential houses\, buildings\, indu
stry facilities\, and communities. They can communicate with each other or
to the main grid through energy management systems to maximize efficiency
\, lower cost and regulate demand. In the case of electrical disturbances\
, microgrids can be disconnected from the main grid and operate as autonom
ous systems. In this seminar\, research on microgrids at the Laboratory of
Control Systems and Mechatronics at Saint Mary's University will be discu
ssed and shown through the available experimental systems.\n\nSpeaker:\n\n
