Bearing that in mind\, the IEEE IAS SBC of Unive rsity of Moratuwa\, in collaboration with IEEE IAS Sri Lanka Chapter\, ini tiated IAS Comrades\, to build up comradery in the IAS fraternity in Sri L anka.\n\nGoing beyond the scope of building fellowship\, the project also operates on three other objectives\; to spread awareness about IAS Competi tions for undergraduates\, to encourage Student Branches in Sri Lanka with out IAS Chapters to initiate an IAS Chapter and to assist inactive student branch chapters to engage in new initiatives.\n\nThe IEEE IAS SBC of Univ ersity of Peradeniya joined hands with us for the first phase of this exci ting new initiative\, and the event was held on 12th January 2020 at Unive rsity of Peradeniya.\n\nAccordingly\, a friendly visit was paid to Univers ity of Peradeniya by our team\; Mr. Lakshitha Gunasekara - Chairman of IEE E IAS Sri Lanka Chapter\, Mr. Tharindu Suraj\, Research Engineer at Univer sity of Moratuwa and Contest Winner of Myron Zucker Undergraduate Student Design Contest 2018 and IAS CMD Student Robotics Demonstration Contest in 2019\, Mr. Vinura Udaraka\, Chairman of IEEE IAS SBC of University of Mora tuwa and winner of IEEE SS12 Maker Fair 2018 and Myron Zucker Undergraduat e Design Contest 2019 and Mr. Isuru Wijegunasingh\, Vice Chairman of IEEE IAS SBC of University of Moratuwa.\n\nThe enthusiastic audience of the pro gram comprised of IAS members at University of Peradeniya as well as under graduates eager to apply for IEEE competitions with their amazing design p rojects. At the beginning of the event\, the guests received a warm welcom e by Mr. Dasun Dilan\, Chairman of IEEE IAS SBC of University of Peradeniy a.\n\nThen\, Mr. Lakshitha Gunerekara obliged on stage and gave a vivid de scription of what IAS was and the benefits of joining IAS. Being an eloque nt speaker\, he described his own personal experiences and how IEEE and IA S served to change his life.\n\nAfterwards\, the proceedings were handed o ver to Mr. Tharindu Suraj\, who described the scopes of IAS CMD Annual Con tests followed by some tips and guidelines to write an effective report ta rgeting the competitions. With his experience at IAS Contests\, he was the ideal person to inspire and guide the budding engineers at University of Peradeniya to achieve greater heights.\n\nThe event concluded amidst much positive feedback from the participants.
