DESCRIPTION:AT CAPACITY\, REGISTRATION IS CLOSED!\n\nProject Management for
  Engineering Professionals\n\nRegion 1 - short course - Offered online\n\n
 April 13th– May 20th\n\nInstructor: Ed Palacio – Director\, Region 1\n
\nDear Colleague\,\n\nThe R1 Leadership was pleasantly surprised that the
first R1 Evening Course on Project Management was filled to capacity withi
n 6hrs of the very first email notification. You have sent us a very clear
message as we all struggle to get through the Covid-19 crisis.\n\nWe have
all watched daily with concern as the incidence of COVID-19 steadily incr
eases around the world\, in the U.S.\, and here within Region 1. We know t
hat social distancing is effective in slowing down the spread of a disease
\, thus allowing our healthcare system to continue to deliver care. It was
clear that many of the numerous events within the Region 1 Sections were
going to have to be postponed or cancelled to support the efforts of our c
ommunity to help confront the COVID-19 crisis.\n\nWe sought to provide vir
tual courses and seminars to bring our community together in this crisis.
We will continue to deliver more content like this in the near future. Ple
ase contact us\, if you are interested in providing a virtual seminar or s
hort course to the Region 1 IEEE community. With your help\, we will all g
et through this together!\n\nWe hope you\, your peers\, and your family st
ay safe as we endure the COVID-19 crisis.\n\nAll my best\,\n\nGreg Gdowski
\nRegion 1 Director-Elect\n\nVIRTUAL COURSE: All registrants will be email
ed information regarding how to participate through WebEX.\n\nCOURSE SYLLA
BUS:\n\nBooks for reference (not required)\n\n[Project Management: Achievi

 – [Project Management Institute](https://www.pmi.org)\n\n-\n\nAgenda: \n
Objective and Contents:\n\nThis course is designed to help business and en
gineering practitioners and students understand some of the greatest chall
enges that organizations face today – the effective and efficient method
s for implementing projects in organizations. Project management\, referre
d to by Fortune magazine as the #1 career choice for the coming decade\, r
epresents a skill that is in high demand by all companies\, both domestic
and international. This course will provide a comprehensive overview of th
e skills needed and challenges to be faced in managing projects in organiz
ations.\n\nThe course is divided into 14 modules\, comprising a series of
major topic areas relating to different elements of project management. Af
ter developing a sense of the strategic overview of project management\, w
e will begin analyzing various components of project management such as pr
oject selection\, planning\, organizing\, and project control. The goal is
to shape the course to approximate the elements of project management and
the challenges faced chronologically\; that is\, first considering how to
plan the project and then\, how to effectively run the project. The remai
nder of the course concentrates on making use of the theories by developin
g analytical and interpersonal skills in the students that will be useful
to them as project managers.\n\nThis is an intensive seminar that will att
empt to cover approximately one semester of material in 12 lectures. As su
ch\, the course will run from 8:00 PM to approximately 9:00 PM in the even
ing\, twice a week.\n\nThe lecture will be on-line and recorded. It is ope
n to R1 IEEE members at no charge\, although they will have to register to
the course.\n\nThis course is based on the PMBOK\, however\, it is not as
sociated nor sponsored by the Project Management Institute and\, as such\,
has not been approved as providing Professional Development Units ( PDU
 ’s).\n\nCourse Topics:\n\n-\nIntroduction and Expectations / Course Desc
