DESCRIPTION:A special thanks to the FREEDM Center at NC State University in
Raleigh\, NC for allowing us to join them in thier next technical present
ation entitled-\n\nMedium-Voltage Modular Extreme Fast Charging System\n\n
The US DOE Vehicle Technologies Office has a goal of recharging electric v
ehicles in under 15 minutes. This requires research in battery chemistry a
nd in extreme fast charging systems rated at hundreds of kilowatts. They s
elected NC State and FREEDM to lead a team including ABB and New York Powe
r Authority to design and build a 1 Megawatt station with multiple chargin
g ports. Our design uses concepts from years of research on solid state tr
ansformers (SSTs) connected directly to medium voltage (up to 15 kV) utili
ty distribution grids. SSTs at these voltages promise increased efficiency
\, power density\, and operational flexibility. This technical webinar wil
l introduce the architecture and system level control of the SST as well a
s details on AC/DC conversion and DC/DC stages.\n\nAgenda: \nThis is a vir
tual presentation hosted on the ZOOM platform. The program runs for 45 min
utes\, with 15 minutes provided for Q&A. Total running time is one hour.\n
\nYou must register in order to receive a link to this meeting.\n\nRaleigh
