DESCRIPTION:Join the IEEE local PELS Raleigh chapter for another technical
presentation. This will be an online presentation which you must register
for in order to receive the online link to connect to the meeting. This li
nk will be emailed to registered participants within one hour before the s
tart time. You do not have to be an IEEE member or a PELS member to join u
s\, everyone is welcome!\n\nAbstract\n\nMicrogrids are widely envisioned t
o be the building block for the future smart grid\, for its autonomy\, dis
tributed energy resources hosting capability\, enhancements in reliability
and resilience\, etc. Smart inverters\, as one of the enabling technologi
es\, play an essential role in interfacing the microgrid components and en
abling stable microgrid operation. This presentation dissects the smart in
 verter control hierarchies\, i.e. primary\, secondary\, and tertiary\, and
provides a close-up look at the distributed tertiary control layer. This
presentation will also highlight two of the fundamental technologies: Coll
