DESCRIPTION:What are we trying to do?\n\nA Scavenger Hunt is a game in whic
h players have to run around in search of a particular article. This game
can be played in teams or solo\, and the larger the area you play it in\,
the more fun it gets.\n\nThe aim of the game is to gather as many points a
s possible by finding the object before the rest of the players. A virtual
scavenger hunt does the same thing\, only we are able to use webcams and
the power of the internet to play from the safety of our homes!\n\nBecause
of the virtual nature of this game\, in addition to retrieving the articl
e and bringing it to their webcam\, a player would also need to hit a virt
ual 'buzzer' (just like on the game show 'Jeapordy!') to help the host kee
p track of who was fastest each round.\n\nRules for the Virtual Scavenger
Hunt\n\n- If you are using two (2) devices to play\, the webcam device and
the ‘buzzer’ device should be located close to one another (i.e.\, wi
thin 15 ft) Players are not allowed to bring their webcam or buzzer device
s with them on their search: they must bring the scavenger item to their w
ebcam and *then* buzz in.\n- All players (or runners) must be visible in t
heir webcam before each round begins. The host calls out the first Hunt it
em on the list and starts the preset countdown (90 seconds).\n- The player
s must rush to find the Hunt item in their house and bring it to their web
cam before the timer runs out. Once they arrive\, they must 'buzz in' to r
ecord that they are back and have the item.\n- Once the round countdown en
ds\, all players must come back to the starting position\, whether they fo
und the Hunt item or not.\n- After at least three people have buzzed in or
the round timer has run out\, the first three (3) entrants will verify wi
th the host via the webcam that they have the Hunt item for that round. Th
e host then records the points won by each player.\n\nAdditional rules:\n\
n- For any Hunt items identified by colour\, at least 50% of the scavenged
item must be of the designated colour (i.e. a 'red jacket' must be at lea
st half red to qualify)\n- For any Hunt item\, a photo or physical model o
f the item also counts so long as it is in printed or physical form\, not
electronic (i.e. a painting or paper photo of a banana would be accepted i
n lieu of a real banana\, as would a plastic or toy banana\, but not a pho
to of one on your phone)\n\nIf using 'runners' (kids are awesome!)\, then
the runners need to follow the same presence rules: visible on the webcam
before the item is called\, and the buzzer can't be pressed until the runn
er is close enough to 'tag' the person managing the buzzer device after th
ey return (so no calling ahead to buzz in early)\n\nPoint Scoring\n\nSince
the idea of the game is to see who can locate and bring items the fastest
\, the point system is based on who reaches their webcam and buzzes in fir
st.\n\n- The first player to reach their screen and buzz in with the corre
ct item wins 5 points.\n- The second player to buzz in with the correct it
em wins 3 points. The third player wins 1 points.\n- The players who find
the item within the 90 seconds but did not arrive first\, second or third\
, receive 0 point. Please make sure the Host can see your item in the webc
am for the thumbs up!\n- The rest of the players (who did not find the ite
m\, or found the item after the time was up) receive 0 points.\n\nAt the e
nd of the game\, the host adds up each player’s total\, and the player w
ith the highest score wins! There will be 3 gift card prizes for $25\, $20
and $15 for top 3 players/teams.\n\nNote: The Host is Judge\, Jury and Ex
ecutioner for all point awards. Any disputes will be decided by the Host\,
and the Host’s decision is final. While bribes are welcome and will be
accepted\, they will have no impact on the Hosts’ final decisions. You h
ave been warned...\n\nTechnical details:\n\nWebcam: Meetings will be via Z
oom (https://zoom.us/meetings). Room and password to be distributed prior
to event in a separate email - Please wait for that email as it is not aut
omated.\n\nBuzzer: https://buzzin.live/ (code will be shared over the meet
ing interface). Note: make sure your nickname on buzzin matches your displ
ay name in Zoom or WebEx!\n\nLegal details:\n\nWhile this event is being s
ponsored by IEEE Young Professionals\, the physical event venue is located
wherever the players are playing from (home\, office\, cabin\, etc.)\, ov
er which IEEE has no ability to control conditions.\n\nParticipation in th
e event is entirely at your own risk: IEEE or affiliates will not be held
liable for any injuries or damages arising as a result of this event. Your
registration and participation in this event indicates your agreement wit

ether\, safely!\n\nAgenda: \n6:00 pm - Welcome\n\n6:05 pm - Virtual scaven
