DESCRIPTION:We hope you are all well and healthy. The year has been a chall
enge but with challenge comes opportunity to succeed. We have our first ev
ent in person and streamed coming up in a week or two here in September. W
e have a speaker from SpaceX\, Dr Poliskie\, coming to discuss opportuniti
es for electrical engineers in the aerospace industry.\n\nThis talk will e
xplore the historical trends and new opportunities for electronics enginee
rs in the Aerospace Industry. The Industry has gone through boom and bust
cycles connected to government funding and shifting national priorities. M
ost recently\, the singing of Space Policy Directive 1 on December 11\, 20
17\, and the successful emergence of US commercial space flights on May 30
\, 2020\, has renewed interest in space exploration in the US. Based on pr
oceedings from the International Astronautical Congress\, space exploratio
n is of global interest for a number of government agencies and private co
mpanies. This increase in international interest is creating widespread op
portunities for young professions with electronic engineering skills.\n\nS
peaker(s): Dr. Michelle Poliskie\, \n\nAgenda: \nDoors open at 6 PM\n\nTal
k starts at 6:30 PM\n\nRoom: 2650\, Bldg: Sorenson's Molecular Biotechnolo
