DESCRIPTION:The Webinar was held on 22nd August\, 2020 in the benign presen
ce of the dignitaries including Prof. Subrata Mukhopadhyay\, Chairperson\,
CNA Group and Former Chairperson\, IEEE Delhi Section. Prof. R. K. Vyas\,
National President\, CSI welcomed all the invited guests and participants
. Prof. M. N. Hoda\, Director\, Bharati Vidyapeeth's Institute of Computer
Applications and Management (BVICAM)\, New Delhi also addressed the sessi
on and discussed the background note of conducting such Webinars through v
irtual platforms. He emphasized that these webinars act as networking tool
s to connect people from across the world and help them to adapt to a New
Normal life\, a new ecosystem caused by COVID-19. He also discussed the fi
ve phases of COVID-19 i.e. Denial\, Anger\, Bargain\, Depression and Accep
tance and motivated the participants to directly move to Acceptance phase
from Bargain phase without going into Depression phase\, which is also one
of the objectives of these weekly webinar series. He also motivated parti
cipants to keep learning continuously regardless of all disruptions. He al
so discussed the background of the Edge computing\, the topic of the webin
ar. The webinar was blessed to have inaugural address by Prof. Subrata Muk
hopadhyay giving a brief background of the all these webinars\, in collabo
ration will all the premiere professional societies.\n\nMr. Vijay Anand\,
Assistant Vice President\, Altran\, Chennai\, was the lead speaker. He fir
st introduced the topic to the participants. He discussed and showcased wi
th live examples that Edge Computing\, one of the emerging paradigm\, repr
esents a new trend to improve the overall network efficiency by delivering
 low-latency\, energy consumption\, bandwidth-efficient and resilient serv
ices to IoT users that allow computation near to the data sources which is
at edge of network and additional benefits like cyber security / physical
security\, privacy\, interoperability as the processing occurs close to e
dge. He also discussed that with Edge Computing adoption coupled with a cl
oud strategy is set to increase\, where greater proportion of IoT applicat
ions would run on the edge. Webinar also had discussion on current trends
in the Edge IoT ecosystem\, Edge Node / Edge Gateway\, Industrial Challeng
es\, Emerging technologies & protocols\, Smart Factory\, Critical use case
s\, Evolving standardization bodies\, Evolving hardware platform and open
source platforms for software development.\n\nThe session concluded with Q
uestion & Answer round where participants willingly asked their queries\,
followed by a concluding remarks by Prof. Ajay P. Thakare\, Chairman\, TPP
C\, IETE\, New Delhi. Prof. M. N. Hoda gave his heartfelt appreciation to
Mr. Vijay Anand for his valuable and detailed session. He also thanked all
the participants and panellist for giving their precious time in attendin
g this webinar and making all the webinars hosted by BVICAM\, a huge succe
